Hook-up culture

So I was watching Dr. Drew this afternoon and he had Steve from Tough Love as a guest and they were talking to college students about the hooking up that goes on across all campuses. Dr. Drew feels that a girl isn’t diminishing herself if she wants to hook-up with a guy while Steve does because he feels a man prefers to get serious with a girl who has a low body count versus a girl with a large one. I feel that’s unfair.

All men have their own standards as do women. I’ll use myself as an example. I have dated guys with body counts larger than mine, although I haven’t been with many guys, this did not make me like them any more or less then I already did. However, I do have girl friends who know that they are not ok with this like I am.

To me it all depends on the person’s preferences. I’m a pretty liberal girl and I say do what you please. If a guy doesn’t want you because he feels that you’ve had sex with too many people, then leave him alone. Find someone who accepts you for you because your past isn’t going anywhere. And the same goes for guys as well.

People settle down when they’re ready to settle down. People date when they want to date. And people hook-up when they want to hook-up. It’s as simple as that.

2012 The Great Gatsby Trailer …not sure how I feel about this. The trailer makes the story seem more dramatic than I remember reading it to be.

Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it’s a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it’s a way of making contact with someone else’s imagination after a day that’s all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.

Girl Friends

I was thinking to myself last night about why girls hate having other girl friends? I always see on twitter and facebook saying “this is why I only hang out with guys” or something of that sort, and they always say this when some girl has pissed them off somehow. What’s even worse in my opinion is when a girls says something like “I don’t like other girls are catty and bitches and have too much attitude” or my favorite “other girls don’t like me.” Why do women talk about other women so badly? Guys never group males all in one category because them being male proves how they are different. If a girl thinks all girls are bitches then she is calling herself one. Just because she is making the comment doesn’t exclude her from the gender group.

When it comes to people in general, there are those who you will get along with and those you won’t. It all depends on their personality, gender has nothing to do with it. Personally, I cherish all of my friendships, male or female, because they all have proven to be trustworthy people, and that is what has made them my friend.

As women, we shouldn’t be so against each other. That’s all I’m saying

Worrying is wasting energy on the things you can’t control. Leave everything in God’s hand. Think less, pray more.

All this week I’ve woken up thinking about different people and wondering how they are doing and if we’ll ever be like we were. Wondering if I’ll ever see them again, and if so, will things be the same.
